Submissions Information


So To Speak

For complete submisssion guidelines, check the So to Speak website at http://www.gmu.edu/org/sts/submit.htm

All contributors should include with their submissions a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a cover letter that provides:

  • Complete contact information, preferably home contact information.
  • How the contributor heard about So to Speak. (For example, if through a directory, which one?)
  • A biography, not longer than 75 words, that describes the contributor's background as a writer or artist, including awards or other publications. Publication decisions will be made based on the strength of the submission.
  • Poetry Guidelines
    • Please submit two to five poems. Poems should appear on the page as you wish to see them published.  
  • Fiction Guidelines
    • Please submit no more than one piece at a time. Submissions should be double-spaced with numbered pages and no longer than 5,000 words.
  • Non-Fiction Guidelines
    • Personal essay, memoir, vignette, narrative, or profile (4,000 words maximum) that relates to feminism is welcome. Submissions should be double-spaced with numbered pages.

  • Art Guidelines
    • The editors accept any form of artwork. Past issues have included photography, sketches, paintings, and images of various installations and sculpture.   Artwork should be sent electronically (TIFF, JPEG, or PDF).
