Volition, formerly known as Apathy, is George Mason University's Undergraduate Creative Literature and Art Magazine. Voltion lives a life on the edge between boldness and creativity that cannot be found elsewhere on campus.
We publish poetry, prose, art, and photographs during the fall and spring semester!
Getting published in Volition adds more than a publication onto your writers resume; it allows you to be a part of the growing literary movement on campus. You never know who reads literary magazines, don't allow the chance to put your work on display pass you by, it may become famous. Many of the artists and writers featured in Volition have gone on to continue to pursue careers in their fields.
Volition hosts open-mic nights once a semester to allow writers to show their work and hear the work of older writers in the GMU community. Not to mention free food and coffee for all our starving artists.
Volition seeks submissions of distinctive prose, poetry, and visual art. Submissions should be sent as an attachment (.doc or .rtf for written work; TIFF, JPEG, or EPS for visual work) to volition@gmu.edu.
Volition’s interns have fun with a staff of creative people while earning experience for grad school or employment. What could be better? For more information, contact the editors at volition@gmu.edu or fill out Student Media's online application, available in the menu on the left hand side of this page.
Copies of Volition are free to George Mason University students. Stop by the Office of Student Media in the Hub (SUB II), Room 1201 to pick up your copy.
