Freshman Focus is the only campus magazine for freshmen, by freshmen, publishing the stories and experiences of first-year Mason students in their own words. Freshman Focus offers incoming and prospective students a look into what freshman year is like at George Mason University by showcasing personal stories of struggle and success, the “ins and outs” of college life, and a handy guide to campus resources. Freshman have the opportunity to join the magazine’s staff and create content during their first and second semesters for publication in later spring or early summer. This cycle allows current freshmen to pass on their knowledge and insight to the incoming class who receive a copy of the magazine at summer orientation. Families are also encouraged to pick up a copy so they can see what is possible for their student and learn more about existing opportunities and programs.
