WGMU Summer Radio Camp Recap

Radio Camp 2016 Over the summer Student Media welcomed 27 middle and high school students (our largest group ever!) to Mason’s Fairfax campus for the 21st Annual WGMU Summer Radio Camp. Held every summer since 1996, WGMU Summer Radio Camp consists of two, one-week sessions and is open to local students in grades 6-12. Campers gain basic on-air broadcasting skills by learning how to produce a live music show, commercials, and news announcements in WGMU’s Johnson Center studios. This year’s camp included a behind-the-scenes look into commercial radio with a field trip to Arlington Independent Media’s WERA 96.7 FM.

Thank you to all the 2016 campers and their families — we hope you had as much fun as we did!
